About PMEGP

PMEGP is a credit-linked subsidy scheme managed by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) under the Ministry of MSME. It supports the establishment of new micro-enterprises in both rural and urban areas across India, aiming to generate employment and promote self-reliance through the growth of small businesses.

Key Features of PMEGP

  • Subsidy of up to 35% on the total project cost.
  • Project cost limits:
    • ₹50 lakh for manufacturing units
    • ₹20 lakh for service units
  • Collateral-free loans available for projects up to ₹10 lakh.
  • Loans disbursed through nationalized and private sector banks.
  • Scheme applicable across both rural and urban regions.
  • Subsidy Pattern:
    • General Category:
      • Urban Area: 15%
      • Rural Area: 25%
    • SC/ST/OBC/Minorities/Women:
      • Urban Area: 25%
      • Rural Area: 35%
  • Applicant contribution: 5–10% of the project cost as own investment.
  • Remaining amount provided by the bank as a term loan.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be 18 years or older
  • Minimum educational qualification: 8th pass for manufacturing projects above ₹10 lakh and service projects above ₹5 lakh
  • Business unit must be new (not previously established)
  • Open to individuals, self-help groups (SHGs), co-operative societies, and institutions
  • No income restrictions apply

  • Service units including beauty parlors, boutiques, repair services, coaching centers, etc.
